The longing for summer kicks in with the arrival of autumn at the latest. However, it rather starts with the first days of summer itself. An acute sense of loss, of irretrievability, is part of all bright, cheerful summer days and dark, hot summer nights. With the spontaneous shots of her series “Summer is a Ghost from the Past”, artist Renata Britvec is in search of what gets lost with the end of each summer. Renata took the photos in Ex-Yugoslavia and Berlin over the past ten years. She used various cheap digital and smartphone cameras – whatever was at hand in those moments of agitation.
